Amory Lovins named one of “America’s Best Leaders”
Snowmass, CO, November 20, 2008 — RMI co-founder, Chief Scientist and Chairman Amory Lovins has been honored as one of America's Best Leaders by U.S. News Media Group and the Center for Public Leadership (CPL) at Harvard Kennedy School. Lovins, who co-founded the non-profit, self-described "think and do tank" in 1982, was rated among the top 24 of the United States' foremost professionals.
RMI announces initiatives to end oil dependence
Snowmass, CO, November 12, 2008 — Rocky Mountain Institute announced three initiatives today, including a summit to find common ground among the best features of several plans and foster consensus on national policy recommendations. Other initiatives will help lead the automotive industry’s transition towards lightweighting and electrification.

Team of energy savers to pursue breakthroughs on climate change on 12 college campuses
Snowmass, CO, October 13, 2008 — A team of energy researchers will begin visiting a diverse group of 12 U.S. colleges and universities this week to collaborate on a search for campus-wide breakthroughs that could help slow global warming. Twelve schools, from Colorado State University to a community college in Bel Air, Md. have been invited first to host a two-day site visit by RMI this fall and later to collaborate with each other, RMI and AASHE in a barrier-busting workshop. They were chosen among many strong applicants, because RMI can learn from their diverse range of experiences and their nuanced understanding of both successes and obstacles that campuses need to surmount.
RMI Receives 1st Place Beyond Green Award for Short Film
Washington, DC, January 17, 2008 — The Rocky Mountain Institute is First Place recipient of the Beyond Green Award presented by the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council for their new short film entitled High Performance Building: Perspectives and Practice. Wal-Mart Foundation Donates $250,000 to RMI
Snowmass, Colorado, 27 December 2007 — Rocky Mountain Institute today announced it has received a donation of $250,000 from the Wal-Mart Foundation, the charity arm of the Arkansas-based retailer. The Wal-Mart Foundation made the donation to support RMI’s cutting-edge work on various initiatives that encourage the efficient use of energy and resources.

UCB University Memorial Center Obtains LEED-EB Silver Ranking (PDF-44k)
First LEED Certification for Campus
Boulder, Colorado, July 10, 2006 — The University of Colorado at Boulder University Memorial Center (UMC) has proven to be more than just a place where students relax, dine, and socialize — it is one of the greenest buildings on campus. On June 19, 2006, the University Memorial Center's new addition was awarded LEED Silver certification under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification system for Existing Buildings (LEED-EB). The UMC is the first building on the Boulder campus to receive LEED certification and the second building in Colorado to receive this prestigious honor under the LEED-EB system.
